JRTR Management Commitment and Policy
The Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) is a governmental institution in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan entrusted with transferring, developing, and promoting the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and technology. The Commission established and operates Jordan’s first nuclear facility, the Jordan Research and Training Reactor (JRTR).
In line with the Commission’s mandate and responsibilities, the reactor’s top management affirms its commitment to the management system and the quality assurance system through the following:
-
Meeting the requirements of stakeholders requesting the reactor’s products and outputs by applying advanced and reliable controls that have been, and continue to be, verified and validated to ensure high quality particularly in the production of radioisotopes used in nuclear medicine and sealed radioactive sources used in industrial applications.
-
Continuing to organize and hold regular meetings in which employees are encouraged to share concerns related to safety and public health, propose ideas, discuss reactor policies, and provide suggestions. This approach strengthens openness and constructive dialogue, helps remove barriers, and supports a healthy and effective working environment at all levels.
-
Demonstrating full compliance with legal requirements, applicable national regulations and laws, and recognized local and international best practices and standards, in a manner that satisfies all regulatory and supervisory requirements for the reactor.
-
Practicing what we declare and leading by example, reaffirming our commitment to making the safety and health of employees, the community, the environment, and the nuclear facility itself our primary concern.
-
Maintaining the highest priority at the Jordan Research and Training Reactor: the safety of employees, the community, and the facility.
-
Providing and continuously developing qualified human resources necessary to carry out required activities and ensure the safe, secure, and effective operation of the nuclear facility.
-
Applying an annual evaluation system to monitor quality-related aspects of work at the reactor during the annual management review, and ensuring effective implementation.
-
Establishing the reactor’s management system and quality assurance system, and ensuring their implementation, evaluation, and continual improvement.
-
Sustaining a healthy culture of communication among departments, their personnel, and top management free from resistance by fostering dialogue and discussion that lead to effective problem-solving and support the safe, secure, and effective operation of the reactor.
